How to set up email notifications

Email notifications let you receive feedback alerts straight to your inbox — no third-party tools required. Choose between instant emails for every response or a daily digest summary.

Before you start

  • A FeedbackBar account with a verified email address.
  • A project with at least one active widget.

Step 1 — Enable email notifications

  1. In your dashboard, open your project and go to the Integrations tab.
  2. Click Email in the available integrations list.
  3. Toggle the integration to Active.

By default, notifications are sent to the project owner's email address.

Step 2 — Choose your delivery mode

Open the integration settings and select a delivery mode under Settings → Edit:

Instant

Receive an email within seconds of each new feedback submission. Best for low-to-medium traffic sites where every response matters.

Daily digest

Receive a single summary email each morning with all feedback from the previous 24 hours. Best for high-traffic sites to avoid inbox overload.

Step 3 — Configure recipients and filters

Additional recipients

Add team members by entering their email addresses in the Recipients field. Each recipient receives their own copy of the notification.

Sentiment filter

Choose whether to notify on positive feedback, negative feedback, or both. Most teams start with negative-only to surface issues quickly.

Widget scope

By default notifications fire for all widgets in the project. To limit to specific widgets, click Edit next to the Widgets section.

Step 4 — Send a test email

Click Send Testat the bottom of the integration panel. A sample notification is sent to all configured recipients immediately. If it doesn't arrive within a minute, check:

  • The integration status is Active.
  • Recipient email addresses are correct.
  • Your spam or promotions folder.

Pausing or deleting the integration

  • Pause — toggle the Status switch off. No emails are sent while paused; digest data is not queued.
  • Delete — scroll to the Danger Zone section and click Delete. This is permanent.

Personal notification preferences

The email integration above controls project-level notifications for your team. To manage your own personal preferences — like muting specific projects or switching between instant and digest for your inbox — go to Settings → Notificationsin your dashboard. These preferences apply only to your account and don't affect other team members.
